Dawson County Georgia - April 13 and 25

Scheduled Presentation of Confederate History Month and Confederate memorial Day Proclamation and Confederate Memorial Day Ceremony in Dawson County, Georgia.

April 13 : Dawsonville City Council Meeting: Mayor Joe Lane Cox will designate the month of April as Confederate History Month and April 26th as Confederate Memorial Day.

April 25: Dawson County Confederate Memorial Day Ceremony:   Camp 2135 CONCORD RANGERS  invites  you and your family and to attend our Confederate Memorial Day service which will be conducted at Bethel Baptist Church this year. Bethel Baptist is one of the counties oldest churches and quite a few of our Confederate forbears are interred there. While we celebrate ALL Confederate veterans on this special day, our camp chooses one particular vet for a wreath laying. We will specifically honor Private Moses Meredith Burt, 65th GA. Volunteers who is the ancestor to several of our members, this year. Please also note that we will have decorated every known Confederate veteran's grave in the county with a small battle flag. Our featured speaker this year is Dr. Tim Lawson who teaches history at North Hall Middle School. Of course, there will also be uniformed reenactors, a rifle and Cannon salute and ladies in period attire. We sincerely hope that ya'll can join us on Saturday April 25 at 9:00 A.M. at Bethel Baptist Church, (Hwy 136 and Shoal Creek Rd.), to celebrate our shared history and heritage. Info: call any camp officer listed above.
